Scuba diving in Skopelos

Discover Europe's largest marine park

Under the crystal-clear waters of Skopelos lies an underwater world of rare beauty. Breathtaking reefs, caves, and historic shipwrecks compose an unmissable seascape for sea and adventure lovers alike. Here, you have the opportunity to explore the Marine Park of Alonnisos and Northern Sporades, the largest marine park in Europe.
Scuba diving has taken off in Skopelos in recent years, as part of a broader framework of sustainable and thematic tourism. Underwater routes for all diver levels allow you to safely explore the secrets of the Skopelos’ seabed. Diving takes place in areas with exceptional water clarity — exceeding 30 meters in some locations — revealing a rich ecosystem with colourful sponges, corals, sea urchins, and fish.
You can explore the underwater caves in Stafylos and Panormos, where the natural light creates a magical kaleidoscope of colours. The reefs near Cape Gourouni offer an impressive wealth of marine life. This is one of the sites that prove why Skopelos is considered an ideal destination for scuba diving, snorkelling, and underwater photography.
If you are an experience diver, the ‘Christoforosshipwreck in Panormos offers a unique exploration experience. The 85-metre-long cargo ship sank in 1983 due to bad weather. It is currently located at a depth of 40 metres and is one of the most well-preserved shipwrecks in the Aegean. Diving there combines marine life observation with a unique maritime story.
Activities are organised with respect for the environment and the principles of sustainable tourism, so as to preserve the natural wealth of the area. Always follow the safety rules and guidance from certified instructors.
