Nature accessible to all
Skiathos is an island with enchanting landscapes. As part of the ‘Skiathos Heritage Trails’ programme, the ‘Paths of Greece’ Social Cooperative Enterprise undertook an innovative action: to evaluate and adapt routes within the Skiathos Trails network to be friendly and accessible to persons with disabilities. The evergreen island of the Sporades invites you to explore it!
Based on the official ‘Guide for Accessible Routes in Nature’ of the Greek National Confederation of Disabled Persons (ESAMEA), accessible routes were ensured with a width of over 1 metre, a gradient of less than 7%, and a stable surface. These specific trails have special signage that guides visitors clearly.
While no route is perfectly suitable for visitors with visual impairments and blindness due to a lack of guardrails, most are easy to use for people with hearing problems and deafness, and for people with walking difficulties and wheelchair users. Skiathos is a destination for everyone.
The programme is not limited to nature alone. The accessible routes connect points of cultural interest, thus enhancing the exploration of the island's history and identity through thematic routes. Skiathos is emerging as a model of sustainable tourism, where the experience becomes available to everyone.

- Trail 1, offering a rich cultural route around the Village, where you can stop for coffee and souvenirs.
- For a route overlooking the wetland of Agios Georgios, follow Trail 3.
- Trail 3A will lead you to the picturesque chapel of Agios Georgios, through a seaside walk.
- Trail 2 ensures a unique view of the island's distinctive airport, crossing old shipyards and many historical sites, such as chapels and archaeological sites.
- Discover Trail 15 along a very mild and pleasant route, at Strofylia lagoon, next to the coastal pine forest.
