Parnassus Ski Resort

Parnassus Ski Resort

Peak Skiing in Greece

Mt Parnassus, with an altitude of 2,260 metres, is one of the most important mountain ranges in Greece and home to the largest and most well-organised ski resort in the country. It comprises the areas of Kelaria and Fterolakka, which are connected by an aerial lift and pistes, and are also connected to Gerontovrachos via ski runs. The resort boasts a total of 23 pistes with a length of 27km and 13 lifts.
A Choice of Pistes
At Kelaria, skiers prefer the blue slopes of Telemachus and Pericles for their warm-up runs. Aphrodite connects the parking area with the chalet, while Hermes offers a pleasant and easy descent. For the more experienced, Odysseus presents the ultimate challenge, as it is the hardest red slope, at points verging on black.
In Fterolakka, beginners will discover the perfect slopes on the Hera and Pan runs, although the latter’s lift requires caution. The Pythia piste is ideal for those who have just progressed beyond the beginner level. For expert skiers, Heniokos is renowned for its considerable difficulty and is F.I.S. certified for competitions. Sahara, the top 1,000-metre red run, uniquely connects the two sides of the mountain.
After Skiing: Wellness and Tradition
The Parnassus experience extends beyond the snow. Cosmopolitan Arachova offers luxurious accommodation, a vibrant nightlife and exquisite gastronomy, with its signature dishes being formaela (semi-hard, mildly salty sheep’s milk cheese) and local brusco wine (robust, rustic, full-bodied red).
For nature enthusiasts, hiking along the mountain trails and cobbled paths leads to places of unique energy, such as the sacred Oracle of Delphi. Before leaving, seek out the renowned handmade Arachova textiles and karpitia (carpets) as a memento of a complete escape that combines athletic vigour with cultural heritage and authentic Greek hospitality.
