Skala Vradetou is one of the most special experiences in Greece. The route will offer you the opportunity to discover the authentic beauty of Zagorochoria through an impressive stone path. It starts from the village of Kapesovo and leads to the picturesque village of Vradeto at an altitude of about 1,340 meters, having covered an altitude difference of about 250 metres. Walking along the path you will come across over 39 turns created by about 1,100 cobbled steps, which date back to the 18th century and are a living monument of the traditional architecture and history of the inhabitants of Zagori.
The route is ideal if you want to combine adventure, natural beauty and a dose of cultural heritage. As you climb, you will enjoy the spectacular views of Vikos Gorge and the majestic landscape of the surrounding mountains, with images that will remain in your memory forever. The Vradeto Steps are located 9.2 kilometers from Vradeto. There is a trail from Kapesovo that leads to the Vradeto Steps.
Access to the Vradeto Steps is mainly through Kapesovo, one of the central villages of Zagori. From Ioannina, follow the road toward Central Zagori, heading to Tsepelovo and then to Kapesovo. Once you reach Kapesovo, a short drive leads to a designated parking area near the beginning of the trail.
From there, the stone-paved path (kalderimi) begins, ascending toward Vradeto. The access route is clear and well signposted, making it easy for visitors to locate the starting point.
The total duration of the ascent and descent is approximately 2.5 hours.
