A coveted network of cycling routes
Skiathos has joined the ‘Bike Friendly Destinations’ network and is a certified Cycling Destination. This distinction reflects the island's commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of tourism education. Its small area, green landscape, and vibrant cultural identity offer once-in-a-lifetime cycling experiences for every level. From short and easy trails to demanding mountain routes, Skiathos offers the way to enjoy your ride on two wheels.
The Skiathos Trails programme has created eight routes with imaginative names that reflect the island's uniqueness. From the easy 4.3km-long ‘Sea and Lake’ trail around Strofylia to the demanding 46.6km-long ‘MTB Marathon’, every level of cyclist finds their own challenge. The moderately difficult ‘Cycle for Faith’ trail connects the island's Chora with monasteries, while the ‘Seaview’ trail offers a panoramic view over just 4.8 km. Inside the dense forest, the ‘Pine Tree Forest’ and ‘Umbrella Tree Forest’ trails unfold the green majesty of the island along 12.1 and 10.6 km, respectively.
If you are looking for diversity of images, then follow the ‘Skiathos MTB Panorama’ and ‘A Glimpse of Skiathos’ trails. These are two 16 km-long circular trails that combine mountain and sea, highlighting the multifaceted identity of the land.
Cycling on Skiathos is the ideal way to get to know the land. Every route is a new memory: a sunset on an uphill turn, a clearing with the scent of pine, a small monastery that unexpectedly emerges around a bend in the road. Cycling here is not a race, but an invitation for relaxed moments and a substantive connection with nature. Follow the trails, observing all safety rules, and let them lead you to experiences you will remember forever.
