Visit the atelier and residence of Alekos Fassianos, located in Ioulida, the island’s traditional Hora. It is a house of typical Cycladic architecture, based on simplicity and purity of form. The building is dominated by white lime on the walls and ochre on the windows and doors, which face the Aegean Sea.

A Lifelong Bond with Kea and the Pursuit of Sanctuary

Fassianos discovered Kea in the spring of 1967, accompanying a family friend on a pilgrimage. He immediately fell in love with the island for its self-sufficiency in livestock farming, fishing, and agriculture, and he formed close bonds with the locals who helped him explore the island’s rich archaeological heritage. He purchased a residence to serve as his personal creative sanctuary during the summer months.

The Artist's Handcrafted Universe

The atelier features handwritten personal items, toys, ceramics, and sculptures crafted by the artist himself using the simplest of materials. Visitors encounter the artist’s personal touch in every corner of the space, from the metal railings and door handles to the unique furniture he designed himself.

A Vibrant Beacon of Culture in the Present Day

Today, the space functions as a vibrant hub of culture, fostering a deeper understanding of the artist’s aesthetics and way of life. Under the continued stewardship of the Alekos Fassianos Non-Profit Organisation, the atelier remains open to the public, offering a unique immersive experience that highlights the artist’s deep connection with Greek light and the Cycladic landscape.
