Panathenaic Stadium

A Timeless Symbol of the Olympic Spirit in the Heart of Athens

The Panathenaic Stadium, a cultural symbol of Greece, is one of the most important landmarks in Athens and all of Greece.
The Historic Heart of the Olympic Games
Its history is inextricably linked to the modern Olympic Games, from their revival in 1896 to the 2004 Athens Olympics. This stadium is where the Olympic flame is delivered for the Winter, Summer, and Youth Olympic Games!
The Hellenic Olympic Committee, the custodian of the Olympic ideal in our country, has decided to make the stadium a public space. This provides the opportunity for both Greek and foreign visitors to explore the area, as well as the possibility of organising sporting activities and educational visits for children and students.
Live the Experience: Guided Tours and Activities
Visitors have the opportunity to walk around the stadium, take a tour of the grounds, enter the Roman arcade, run on the track, and learn about its history. The tour of the site, lasting from 10 to 20 minutes, is facilitated by a personal audio guide in ten languages (Greek, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese) and an accompanying brochure distributed free of charge to all visitors. This allows you to discover the rich history of the Panathenaic Stadium, the history of its construction, restoration, architecture, and location.
