A route of coolness and calm in Tzoumerka
The Kouiasa - Pouliana route in Tzoumerka is a true paradise on earth for lovers of hiking and nature. Starting from the provincial road linking the picturesque villages of Kalarrytes and Kipina, the trail unfolds through a cool, shaded landscape where towering plane trees spread their branches, offering refreshment and lush tranquillity.
The name “Kouiasa” means “shaded place”, and the route runs beside the Hrousia stream beneath dense vegetation. In the first few kilometres, you will come across the old stone bridge of Kouiasa (dating from the 19th century), which lends the area an air of magic and history. Close by stands the restored watermill, which now operates as a refreshment stop and is an ideal place to rest.
The hiking route is well signposted and safe. One section of the trail climbs towards the village of Kalarrytes, along beautiful cobbled paths, while other sections descend towards the river gorge, revealing enchanting scenes of flowing water and waterfalls. On the other side, there is also a route leading to traditional Syrrako, offering views over the Pouliana slope.
The circular route has a total length of about 2 km, while the ascent and descent together take around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Along the way, you will enjoy landscapes of outstanding natural beauty: waterfalls, natural pools with crystal-clear waters and the old watermill, all perfectly integrated into the natural environment.
