Skiing, Rafting, Hiking, and Cycling
The Vasilitsa Ski Centre is the heart of winter activities in Grevena. Nestled in the heart of the Pindus mountains, on the slopes of Mt Vasilitsa and Mt Gomara, the centre offers 20 kilometres of pistes at altitudes reaching 2,249 metres. With seven lifts and runs for all levels of difficulty, it welcomes 60,000 skiing, snowboarding, and tobogganing enthusiasts annually. The surrounding villages, with their traditional guesthouses and tavernas, ensure the ideal accommodation and dining experience for visitors.
Mountain Biking and Adrenaline
In the summer, the action moves to the Vasilitsa Mountain Bike Park, which boasts two dedicated trails. The 2,200-metre-long high-difficulty Katsmalosi DH track is a challenging downhill course with technical sections, perfect for training and competitions. The second trail, the 1,500-metre-long Red Trail, caters to enduro riders and less experienced DH riders, offering a fun mountain biking experience.
Exploring Nature
For hiking and mountaineering enthusiasts, the landscapes of unparalleled beauty of the protected Valia Kalda national park offer the perfect backdrop. The Grevena Ski and Mountaineering Club and its counterpart in Deskati organise regular excursions to the peaks. For exploring the National Park, the Information Centre in Mavranaioi provides essential guidance. Please note that during the autumn and winter months, access to the dirt roads of Valia Kalda requires a 4x4 vehicle and extreme caution due to the torrents.
Activities for All
The adventure in Grevena doesn't end there. Local tour operators organise a plethora of activities that take advantage of the natural landscape, such as rafting and canoeing-kayaking on the rivers of the area, as well as horse riding or archery. Each season in Grevena offers a different reason for an excursion, combining sports with a connection to the pristine nature of the Pindus mountains.
