Pikrolimni Thermal Baths

The therapeutic power of clay and salt water

Pikrolimni, a salt lake located between Kilkis and Thessaloniki, constitutes an officially recognised Thermal Natural Resource. Its uniqueness lies in the high salinity of the water, which is approximately three times higher than that of the Dead Sea, and primarily in the thermal clay (black mud) found on its bed. This clay is considered one of the best in Europe for pelotherapy, as it is rich in sulfur compounds, nitrates, and valuable trace elements.
The Pikrolimni Thermal Baths complex combines modern methods of pelotherapy and hydrotherapy with saline, heated water. Treatments are provided in a specially designed, indoor hydrotherapy centre with group pools and individual areas.
The beneficial properties of the thermal clay and water are recommended for various ailments. The treatment is considered particularly effective for rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis, rheumatism, lumbago, sciatica, spondyloarthritis, and post-traumatic inflammation. Furthermore, it offers relief for skin conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema, and acne, as well as for chronic gynecological inflammations.
Beyond the treatments, a visit to Pikrolimni offers a comprehensive health and relaxation experience, a short distance from Thessaloniki. You can enjoy a rejuvenating pelotherapy followed by a bath in the pools, take advantage of the complex's accommodation and dining facilities, and relax in the quiet natural environment of the lake. Moreover, you can discover the surrounding areas, as the location serves as an ideal base for excursions. Combine wellness with agrotourism and visits to local sights and hiking trails.
