The wellness of hydrotherapy
A lagoon that touches the forest, a strip of land like an islet, and—just a few minutes away—the open sea. On the eastern shore of Lake Kaiafas, at the foot of Mount Lapithas, thermal springs gush from within natural caves.
The springs are traditionally linked to the Anigrides Nymphs and the Geranian cave, an ancient mythological footprint that persists in the local narrative. Since antiquity, Kaiafas has been renowned as a therapeutic destination.
The thermal water springs from the Cave of the Anigrides Nymphs at temperatures ranging from 31°C to 34°C and is considered ideal for rheumatic conditions, joint disorders, and gynaecological or skin ailments. The primary spring is classified as hydro-chloro-sodium with free hydrogen sulphide. A second spring (Geranio), suitable for mineral water treatments (positherapy), is also located nearby.
The modern Hydrotherapy Centre features an outdoor thermal pool, individual treatment tubs, a medical clinic, and comfortable reception and waiting areas.
Combine your hydrotherapy with a walk by the lake before or after your session. For a memorable experience, follow your thermal bath with a dip at Zacharo beach for a refreshing hot-and-cold contrast.
The hydrotherapy centre operates from mid-June to mid or late October.
