Wellness and relaxation powered by nature
Imagine swimming in hot waters while it's freezing or snowing outside. Watching mist rise from the surface, created by the contrast in temperature. Meeting people from all over Greece, who have stopped for a therapeutic dip, in the summer. Feeling the body unwind and the skin rejuvenate. A wonderful experience awaits you in the heart of the country all year round, at the thermal springs of Central Greece, which are recommended for numerous diseases. These mineral-rich waters, flow from several locations, the most famous being Thermopylae, Kamena Vourla and Ypati.
In Kamena Vourla the waters have a very special composition. It is no coincidence that the area developed into a renowned spa resort in the past decades. The springs of Koniavitis are open-air and can be visited all year round, featuring artificial pools and changing facilities.
At Thermopylae you will find the natural thermal troughs within the archaeological site of the Battle of Thermopylae. It is a large area with acidic thermal springs rich in sodium chloride and hydrogen sulfide. The water reaches 42°C and is considered to be the hottest in the country. In the area there are also the springs in Psoroneria, near the village of Koutseki. They are saline springs rich in hydrogen sulfide and reach up to 35°C. You'll find an outdoor pool and changing rooms available year-round.
A hydrotherapy centre operates in Loutra Ypatis, from June to Octobre. The waters here are considered to have a unique composition.
Further north, in the area of Makryrahi, you will find Loutra Dranistas –Kaitsas, which operate from June to Octobre with individual bathing cabins. The alkaline waters here maintain a temperature of around 20°C. In the area lies the thermal spring of Ekkara, which is expected to be developed in 2026.
