Milos lies south-east of the Cyclades, roughly midway between Piraeus and Crete, and is one of the Aegean's most captivating island destinations. Its name is renowned, thanks to the striking statue of Aphrodite unearthed here, now exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
Milos is also famed for its numerous, idyllic beaches. As a volcanic island, it boasts striking geological formations, with white, red, yellow, and black hued rocks, white sandy shores, and rocks sculpted by time and the sea.
Its volcanic past is etched into the dramatic caves and unique coastal formations, exemplified by Kleftiko, the so-called “Meteora of the Sea”. The island's hot springs have been noted since antiquity and are referenced by Hippocrates.
Milos boasts significant archaeological sites and museums, with the Milos Mining Museum highlighting its long and storied mining history.
