A Historical Coastal Gem
Lipasmata Multifunctional Park, a vibrant destination for culture and recreation, can be found where one of the largest industrial plants for fertilisers and chemical products in Europe operated for nine decades. With over a million visitors annually, the site combines industrial heritage with the natural beauty of the Saronic Gulf.
Outings and Activities for All
The park offers a delightful 2.5-kilometre coastal path that is ideal for walking or cycling and offers views of the entrance to the port of Piraeus. Sports enthusiasts have access to free basketball, five-a-side football, tennis, and beach volleyball courts, as well as an outdoor gym. There are two modern playgrounds for children, and a specially designed dog park. Municipal kiosks offer refreshment stops next to the sea.
Culture and Digital Memory
The park serves as a cultural attraction, hosting the renowned ‘Festival by the Sea’ during the summer. Visitors can discover the history of the area through QR codes that offer a hybrid tour of the iconic buildings. Furthermore, the ‘Workers’ Park’ podcast series brings to life the stories of the workers who shaped the area, while the park’s website offers virtual tours.
Community and Accessibility
Managed by the Municipality of Keratsini-Drapetsona since 2017, the park serves as a model of participatory design. In 2024, it received a prestigious award for its digital promotion of its cultural heritage. Access is easy from gate E1 of the port (Krakari entrance) and from Ethnikis Antistaseos Street (Water Tower entrance), with free parking available on both sides.
Whether you are there for sports or relaxation against the backdrop of the sunset, Lipasmata Park is a treasure of the Athenian coastline that is worth visiting every day of the year.
