Fun for the whole family
Swings suspended over the river, a hanging "piano bridge" that plays music, and painted tree trunks. Pavliani Park is much more than a simple recreation area; it is the natural wealth of an area enhanced by the love and creativity of the villagers. Thanks to their dedication, Pavliani has been transformed from an unknown village on Mount Oiti into a travel destination. It belongs at the top of your travel list.
More than 30 years ago, the youth of Pavliani decided to build a recreation park for themselves. Beside the springs of the Asopos River, with its plane and fir trees, and the running water, they installed games that they continue to maintain and update collectively to this day. They built a trampoline, a zip-line over the river, benches and small bridges, an enormous swing that splashes you with water if you don't move just right. Their sense of humour shines through in the countless imaginative signs and structures. What would otherwise be a simple hiking trail has been turned into a playful adventure that is perfect for children and equally delightful for adults.
The entrance to the park is located between Ano (Upper) and Kato (Lower) Pavliani. At the start of the trail, you can observe the saw, a water-jet, a fulling mill, and a water mill, forming an informal museum of hydropower. From there, you can enjoy the park's surprises. The main route is a loop that is about 7 or 8 kilometres long, and you can access a digital map via a QR code at the entrance.
Walk as much as you want, but keep in mind that at the highest point of the trail stands an iron throne inspired by the Game of Thrones series. The view of the Malian Gulf from the top is spectacular, making it the ultimate photo location for every visitor. Show everyone you were there, too!
