Every April, experience Skyros like never before through a grand celebration of tradition and culture: the Panhellenic Gathering of Cultural - Dance Associations, which brings together clubs and dance troupes from every corner of Greece. For five days, the island is inundated with sounds, colours, and rhythms—an experience that combines music, dance, and the warmth of Greek hospitality.
If you find yourself at the Gathering, you will have the opportunity to admire cultural elements from across the country: dances from Macedonia and Epirus, songs from the islands, sounds and costumes from Asia Minor and Thrace. Each performance is also a recounting of memory, a bridge between the homelands of yesterday and modern-day Greece. The Gathering is the culmination of the efforts made by the ‘Anemoessa’ Cultural Association. It was founded with the objective of rescuing, maintaining, and promoting the cultural identity of Skyros, and functions as a cultural nursery, transmitting the values and customs to the younger generations through lessons in traditional dances, singing, and musical instruments.
