Dive into absolute silence
On Trizonia, this beautiful islet in the Corinthian Gulf, motor vehicles are prohibited, the waters are crystal clear, and the silence is complete. With views stretching toward Roumeli on one side and the Peloponnese on the other, you’ll find it easy to recharge—through leisurely walks and refreshing swims. If you have a boat, you will enjoy all the beaches more easily and you will discover tiny coves that feel entirely your own, such as Bitsiria. Otherwise, be prepared to explore on foot. Please note that some hotels also provide small boats to transport their guests.
The easiest beach to access—and the only one that has facilities—is the village beach, right next to the harbor. It’s ideal for families, as well as for a first or quick swim. More dramatic, and therefore more popular, is Kokkini Paralia (Red Beach), also known as Pounta. Its red pebbles and sand give the beach its name. Located on the southern side of the island, it can be reached after a 30-minute walk. Another very popular beach is Aspra Chalikia (White Pebbles) also known as Papagiannainas Lakka, on the south side and about a 20-minute walk from the village. A few small trees provide limited shade. For a quieter escape, head to Kokkina Chalikια (Red Pebbles) also known as Kapsales. True to its name, it features red pebbles, offers amazing views toward the Peloponnese, and boasts a spectacular sunset.
For all beaches, bring your own umbrella, as natural shade is scarce or nonexistent. Take your own supplies beforehand, since—apart from the village beach—the rest are not serviced. Comfortable sneakers are recommended, as dirt roads and manageable footpaths are not ideal for flip-flops. Don’t forget a mask to explore the crystal-clear seabed, or bring your kayak or SUP for unforgettable sea explorations.
