A mosaic of beaches for every preference
From the serviced sandy shores of the south to the quieter coves of northern Syros, the island offers an experience that balances comfort and natural beauty.
The most popular beaches are located in the southern part, which is protected from the meltemi winds (strong northern winds). Agathopes, with its golden sand and shallow waters, is an ideal choice for families, with facilities and a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Slightly further east, Galissas stands out for its large bay, fine sand, and easy access, while the chapel of Agia Pakou stands at the far end of the bay. At Komito, you will find calm waters, sand, pebbles, and a more relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. A windsurfing centre also operates here.
The western side of the island offers quieter options. Kini combines tavernas right on the water with a shallow sandy cove that is protected and offers a beautiful sunset. Nearby are the smaller coves of Delfini and Varvarousa, accessible via a short hike along the road or by boat.
Northern Syros is different. It has a more rugged landscape and wilder beauty. The famous Grammata beach, accessible mainly by boat from Kini, impresses with its white rocks and ancient inscriptions carved into the stone. Lia, Marmari, and Megas Lakkos offer clear waters and absolute tranquillity to those seeking a more pristine coastline.
