Sea, nature and activities for everyone
Skiathos boasts more than 60 beaches, ranging from sheltered coves to cosmopolitan coasts. The island is considered one of the top summer destinations in the Sporades, offering a wide range of choices, from calm family moments to adventure and water sports.
Megali Ammos
Megali Ammos is located very close to the Chora.
Offering easy access, shallow waters, seaside tavernas and beach bars, it is ideal for families.
Koukounaries & Strofylia
Koukounaries is the most famous beach on Skiathos.
It is located in the southwestern part of the island and stands out for the magnificent pine forest that stretches from the hamlet to the shore. The beach has facilities and is suitable for many activities. You can enjoy paddleboarding, water skiing, or diving — the Skiathos Diving Centre is very close by. At the back of the forest is Strofylia lagoon, a protected ecosystem of the Natura 2000 network.
Vromolimnos
A few kilometres from the Chora, at Cape Kalamaki, lies Vromolimnos beach, a meeting point for water sports enthusiasts. Enjoy the view of the emerald waters from the nearby tavernas and cafes while sampling local delicacies.
Lalaria
On the northern side of the island stretches the enchanting Lalaria beach, accessible only by sea. Snow-white round pebbles —the so-called “lalaria”— and turquoise waters compose a dreamlike landscape. An impressive natural arch in the rock, which locals call “Trypia Petra” (Holed Rock), creates a fairytale setting. The beach's sensitive ecosystem imposes restrictions, controlling disembarkation and prohibiting the collection of the white pebbles.
Beyond its more famous beaches, Skiathos offers a multitude of other enchanting options, such as Megali and Mikri Banana. The beach of Agia Eleni is well known for its spectacular sunsets, while the beaches of Troulos and Vasilias are ideal for quiet dips surrounded by nature. Visit Agia Paraskevi, with its luxurious facilities, if you desire more cosmopolitan moments by the sea.
