Dives into Crystal-clear Waters and Lush Landscapes
The island complex of Paxos and Antipaxos is distinguished by its unique beauty. The area is part of the Natura 2000 network, a designation that safeguards the purity of the landscape.
On the beaches of Paxos, you will find clear waters, greenery that reaches all the way to the shore, and secluded coves. What makes the island truly unique is its dense vegetation, with olive trees offering natural shade even on the beach.
Most beaches on the eastern side are covered with white pebbles that give the water a dazzling turquoise hue. From cosmopolitan Monodendri, with its organised facilities, to the remote and wild Levrechio, each cove has its own distinct character.
The beach of Harami in Lakka is ideal for families, thanks to its sandy seabed and shallow waters, while Moggonisi, at the southern tip, offers shelter from the winds and easy access.
If you love exploration, seek out Orkos, one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, reached via a short footpath. On the western side, Erimitis is a beach formed after a cliff landslide and offers the most spectacular sunset view, with sheer white rocks reflected in the Ionian Sea.
Other noteworthy spots for swimming and relaxation are Marmari and Kaki Lagada, far from the crowds. North of Gaios, the island’s main port, lies the picturesque bay of Lakka, which forms the second-largest harbour on Paxos.
Access to most beaches is easy via the road network. If you wish, you can hire a small boat and discover hidden coves such as Glyfada or Giannas.
From the port of Paxos, you can cross to Antipaxos, either by private boat or on organised excursions, and discover many more hidden treasures of the Ionian Sea.
