Crystal-clear waters and unique natural landscapes
On the second-largest of the Dodecanese islands, small coves with turquoise waters, sandy shores, and impressive rocky inlets come together to form a unique mosaic of coastal landscapes. Here, you will find both serviced and secluded, more remote beaches, all of which retain their authentic character and natural beauty.
Begin your exploration on the island’s eastern side, discovering Apella, a stunning cove boasting crystalline waters, fine pebbles, and slopes blanketed in pine trees that extend almost to the sea.
A little further south, Kyra Panagia is one of Karpathos's most picturesque coves, with its iconic chapel overlooking the shore and a small coastal hamlet.
Further south lies Achata, boasting deep turquoise waters and imposing rocks, crafting a sublime backdrop for swimming and underwater exploration.
Closer to the town of Karpathos, Ammoopi is particularly popular thanks to its small, sheltered coves, fine sand, and calm waters.
In the southern part of the island, near the airport, look for Diakoftis beach, with its soft sand, low-lying junipers, and shallow waters that bring to mind an exotic landscape. For those who favour water sports, such as windsurfing or kitesurfing, Makrys Gialos is the preferred choice.
On the western side of Karpathos, Lefkos combines tranquil beaches with pale sand and waters that resemble a natural lagoon. Near Arkasa lies Agios Nikolaos beach, a beautiful sandy shore offering views towards Kasos.
In the island's northern reaches, Diafani boasts a tranquil beach beside its namesake fishing village, where swimming is easily combined with fresh seafood at the tavernas. Agios Minas is a more secluded beach, with crystalline waters and a wild landscape.
