Wild beauty and crystal-clear waters
From the northern to the southern side of Hydra and from east to west, deep-blue waters await you for refreshing swims and moments of relaxation. The coastline varies in character, from rocky shores to others with pebbles or even sand. The beaches are accessible on foot, by donkey, or exclusively by sea. Some are organised, while cafés and restaurants can be found nearby.
If you do not wish to stray far from Hydra Town, simply choose Spilia, Hydroneta or Avlaki. They are only a few minutes from the port, to the east, and are reached via steps built on the rocks. They are ideal for long swims, and they also offer beach bars and specially arranged areas for sunbathing.
Ideal for quieter moments is the pebbled beach of Kaminia, beside the picturesque fishing harbour east of the port. You can reach it on foot while enjoying the beautiful path.
A short distance from Kaminia, the beaches of Vlychos and Plakes have small pebbles and are well suited to family tourism. The only beach without pebbles is the sandy Mandraki beach, at the island’s old military harbour.
If you are seeking peaceful holidays to the sound of the waves, the beaches of Bisti and Agios Nikolaos, at the southern end of the island, are ideal choices. Pine-covered Bisti is sheltered from the wind, and the chapel of Agios Georgios stands nearby. The cove of Agios Nikolaos stretches below the chapel of the same name, while an ancient waterworks structure lies close by.
