Explore the Mountains of Samos Island

Action in the heart of Samian nature

Samos Island is not just sea. It is an island that stands proudly in the Aegean, with mountains that hide countless secrets. On the green slopes of Mount Ambelos and the imposing Mount Kerkis, nature spreads in all its glory. These are areas included in the Natura 2000 network, where over 1,400 plant species, many of which are endemic, meet and host rare birds of prey, such as the golden eagle and the snake eagle.
Climb the paths of Mt Kerkis, one of the highest island mountains of the Aegean, and enjoy the view that stretches from the coast of Ionia to the islands of the Cyclades. The routes are marked and cross canyons, chestnut trees and olive groves, offering moments of absolute tranquility and intense energy. One of the most beautiful is the ascent to the Convent of Zoodochos Pigi.
On Mount Ambelos you can follow the path Vourliotes – Manolates, ideal for photos and nature observation. Here the route is softer and suitable for hiking, mountain biking and off-road explorations. Adrenaline lovers can try climbing in specially designed places. It is recommended that you observe the safety rules and be accompanied by a certified guide or instructor where necessary.
Explore the mountains of Samos and let every breath of yours be filled with the aroma of pine and thyme. The sounds of the birds, the springs and the light of the Aegean make up a holistic experience. Whether you are a fan of action or looking for moments of contact with nature, the mountains of Samos invite you to discover them, path by path, peak by peak.
