Nightlife in Athens

Athens is the undisputed capital of entertainment. It is one of the few cities where you can dine after midnight, flirt next to ancient monuments, and dance until morning, even on weekdays. From traditional music venues with bouzouki music to classical music venues, the experience is authentic and multifaceted.
Hotspots
Gazi: the most popular area, brimming with restaurants, bars, and clubs for every sexual identity. Technopolis and ‘Kerameikos’ Station are the beating heart of the neighbourhood.

  • Thisio & Plaka: in the Thisio district, you can savour a drink with a view of the Acropolis, while in Plaka, time seems to stand still amidst traditional cuisine and stylish cafés.

  • Monastiraki & Psyrri: an area with an Oriental atmosphere and alternative style. Psyrri is dominated by live Greek music and unique tavernas.

  • Kolonaki: A magnet for fashionistas. Elegant bars, excellent restaurants, and art galleries offer a more sophisticated experience.

  • Exarchia: the city’s growing “hard rock”. Alongside traditional student hangouts, natural wine bars, specialty coffee shops, and modern bistros are now thriving. Despite the metro construction, the area remains a hub for alternative culture and record shops.

  • Centre (Syntagma Square, Karytsi Square, Agias Irinis Square): The urban pulse resonates in the side streets around Kolokotroni Street. Karytsi Square is renowned for its trendy bars, while Agias Irinis Square combines neoclassical buildings, imaginative cocktails, and the city’s best-known souvlaki.

Night-time Athens invites you to revel in its magic, where old meets new at every corner.
