Ten days of performances, workshops and creative meetings
The International Puppet and Mime Festival is the longest-running cultural institution of the Municipality of Kilkis, with a history exceeding two decades. It was born from the passion of the Mygdonia Cultural Association (P.O.M.) and established in Greece as the only municipal and simultaneously international festival institution focusing exclusively on the promotion and development of puppetry and mime.
Its goal is to be a dynamic platform for promoting artistic expression, harmoniously combining theatre with music, visual arts and dance.
During the autumn, Kilkis is transformed for ten days into an international crossroads, hosting hundreds of Greek and foreign creators. The city awaits you to watch high-quality performances, which are not limited to one central stage but are hosted in various venues in every corner of the city. In the Kilkis Conference Centre, the Austro-Hellenic Tobacco Warehouse, the "Kipos" Municipal Park, Eirini Square, even in schools or the Public Library, the strong international character of the festival offers a wide audience the opportunity to experience different techniques and schools.
Beyond the entertainment aspect, the festival has a strong educational and developmental character. In its programme, you will find intensive workshops and seminars aimed at educators, actors and amateurs. It is a unique opportunity to gain knowledge on the techniques of puppetry and mime from international guests. In the same context, special actions are included, such as the Panhellenic Meeting of Young Puppeteers and retrospective exhibitions.
The institution, with its intensely international and extroverted character, highlights Kilkis as a city with a strong tradition in puppetry and vibrant cultural creation.
