In a bowl, mix the flour with the yeast, salt, and sugar.
Add the olive oil and gradually pour in the water, kneading until you have a soft and elastic dough.
Leave the dough to rest and rise for approximately 1 hour.
Shape the dough into long, thin cords or looped patterns and fry in hot olive oil until they are deeply golden. Remove and place on absorbent kitchen paper; serve while still warm.
