Hiking routes of Tinos

One of the best islands for hiking in the Aegean

With an extensive network of marked trails, traditional villages, marble-sculpted landscapes, and impressive cliffs, Tinos offers routes that combine nature, history, and architecture. More than 150km of stone-paved roads and cobblestone paths connect valleys, dovecotes, monasteries, and beaches.
One of the most well-known routes starts from Pyrgos in the Exo Meria area and ends at Panormos, passing by marble workshops, the house of Yannoulis Chalepas, which operates as a museum, and small ravines. The route is gentle and serves as an ideal introduction to the marblework tradition of Tinos.
The hike from Volakas towards Livada is one of the island's most distinctive routes. The path passes through the impressive geological landscape composed by the spherical granite rocks surrounding the village, it descends into small gorges, and ends at the wild beach of Livada, known for its unique rock formations and deep, clear waters.
Alternatively, many travellers choose the Volax–Kolymbithra route, which follows easy trails and ends at the most popular beach of the island.
The Falatados–Volax–Karkados route is also particularly popular. It crosses green valleys, old dovecotes, and dirt trails with small elevation differences.
At the centre of the island, the ascent to Xobourgo offers a more demanding experience: the trail climbs towards the ruins of the Venetian castle, from where the view of the entire island and the surrounding Cyclades is unique.
To the east, the trail to the Monastery of Kyra Xeni offers a serene route through an open landscape, while the trail leading from Triantaros towards Loutra passes by distinctive traditional houses, dry-stone walls, and the Ursuline Convent, founded in 1862.
The available trails cover all difficulty levels, from short family walks to demanding hikes in the more mountainous areas. Tinos remains one of the most authentic destinations for exploring nature.
